Lee, yoga teacher, tea fanatic and holistic nutrition practitioner.

When we enter the realm of health and wellness, we hear a lot about diet and nutrition. Then, we find ourselves wondering if we should try a certain method of detox or not. So many types and methods that we often find ourselves lost!

Did you know that an average person who eats a standard diet (meaning varied anything outside and inside the house) can have anywhere between 10 – 12 lbs of undigested matter in the colons? Here are some signs that you need to detox: chronic fatigue, lethargy, brain fog, skin issues, cravings, digestive issues, frequent colds or flu symptoms, headaches, bad breath, and body odor.

Without getting into a complicated method of detox, let’s just look at the basics:

Sleep well: for a good energy level and overall sanity, we need 7 – 9 hours of deep uninterrupted sleep per day.

Good amount of exercises per day and week: walk minimum 30 minutes a day plus 2 – 3 times of yoga per week (many classes to choose from on our YogaTribes website).

Eat smaller portions but often, instead of a heavy 2 – 3 meals a day.

Are you going regularly? It is important for overall health to poop more than once a day if you eat 3 meals a day.

Stay hydrated, especially as temperature rises: 7 – 9 cups of water per day, depending on the height and weight of each.

We can survive more than few days without food, as so many people go on fasting retreats for detox or for religious reasons. However, we cannot live without water! Human body is made of bacteria and mostly water! For example, some women went on water detox for a whole month and saw significant results on the plumpness of their skin and digestion.

Dr.Batmanghelidj who studied the effects of water as the cure on human disease even developed a schedule for water. You can consult his books for more information: Your Body’s Many Cries for Water or Water for Health, for Healing, for Life: You’re Not Sick, You’re Thirsty!

But then…which or what water? The source of water, the water content or what it should not contain in that invisible liquid is the utmost important part of the water we ingest. So I would like to suggest to you to get the best water filter you can find for your buck possible. One of the most important features of a water filter would be the elimination of heavy metals from the tap water, and then the matter of taste is a personal choice!

If you would like to get more information on detox and water: www.jewelyoga.blogspot.ca or www.facebook.com/alignement

Jewel Harini Lee
Licensed and certified yoga teacher, blogger, tea fanatic and holistic nutrition practitioner.
Founder of www.ayamtl.com
Her blog: www.jewelyoga.blogspot.ca
Follow her on: www.yogatribes.com
Instagram: @jewelyoga
Facebook: www.facebook.com/alignement

By Jewel H.
